The Neurosequential Model (NME) is a developmentally sensitive, neurobiology-informed approach to clinical problem-solving. It was developed by Dr. Bruce D. Perry, MD, PhD and integrates core principles of neurodevelopment and traumatology to inform work with mokopuna, whānau, and the communities in which they live.
NME is not a specific “intervention”; it is an approach to educating school staff about brain development and developmental trauma. It teaches them how to apply that knowledge to their work with mokopuna in and outside the classroom, particularly those with adverse childhood experiences.
The aim is to create an inclusive and nurturing environment that allows all mokopuna to thrive!
We have certificated NME trainers who offer:
NME Introductory Workshops to school and EEC staff - five x 1 1/2 hour sessions -face-to-face
NME Trainer Programme - 12-month online and self-learning programme.
